Veteran's Day: Even Criminals "Get It"
Yesterday it was reported that a young soldier in Milwaukee was mugged at gunpoint by a group of four men. However, as the muggers rifled through his wallet, they found his military ID. Apparently, the leader of the group suddenly had a change of heart and told the others to give back everything that they had taken from him. The leader then thanked the soldier for his service, told him that he respected what he does for our country and even gave the solder a "fist-bump."
This is the month of Thanksgiving. If you know a Veteran, tell him or her "thank you" for their service to our country. If you don't know a veteran, put a flag out in front of your house to say thanks. If you'd like to do more, there are numerous organizations who are helping the public to give back to our Veterans. A good place to start would be to contact the local Veterans Administration Regional Office, the American Legion, the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) or other Veteran's service organizations and ask how you can help.
You can also find information about some national organizations that are helping the public give back to our Veterans here. Thanks to the sacrifices made by these Veterans, and their loved ones, we enjoy the greatest freedoms that any citizen of any country has ever enjoyed. To our men and women in uniform, past, present and future: Thank You!
